So just as NASA was making an ultra-rare successful Mars landing that was carried live on some outlets, the president of the United States decided to float the idea of a state-run television network "to show the world the way we really are, GREAT." Donald Trump, as we've known for 40 years, hates to cede the spotlight.
And serious. Trump's idea — or that of whomever he heard say it this morning — would be laughable if it weren't so ludicrous. His first tweet is a slam at CNN, which "doesn't do great based on ratings, outside the U.S.," and he appears to think the real ratings gold could come from Citizens of the World being told what's really going on here in 'Murica. They also warned that all signs indicate that Putin continues to meddle and will do so going forward into the midterm elections and beyond. By "the past," he presumably is referencing 2016 when, Trump's intel leaders all have agreed, Russia interfered with the U.S. presidential election.

Trump also said he saw no reason why Putin would want to tamper with the 2016 election, trying to debunk the conclusion drawn by his entire intel community.

In his first public statement since his WTF presser following his summit with Russian ruler/former KGB officer Vladimir Putin, President Donald Trump tweeted that he has "GREAT confidence in MY intelligence people" – not clear why he all-capped "my" – but added that we cannot focus "on the past."
