Oscars Vs. Super Bowl? NFL’s Pandemic Contingency Plan Could See Both TV Events Headed For The Same February 28 End Zone

Indeed, AMPAS CEO Dawn Hudson seemed to indicate flexibility when I specifically asked her, and president David Rubin, if the Academy was definitely sticking with the scheduled February 28 date in light of everything going on. “We are in Week 7 of the global pandemic and we are looking at everything in front of us, but that Oscar show is 10 months away from us now, and we can’t predict what is happening between now and February 28th,” Hudson said in clearly leaving wiggle room on the date. The comments came before reports of Super Bowl contingency plans were widely creeping out in the sports community.
This year, the Super Bowl fell on February 2, just a week before Oscar and the closest the two have ever come to each other. In terms of taking the 93rd Oscar show to a later date, the telecast didn't even move into Super Bowl territory in the ratings sweeps month of February until it shifted a month from its late March dates, beginning with the 76th awards to February 29, 2004; it consistently held the show in March since the 61st awards in 1989. The Oscars did make allowances for the Winter Olympics every four years by airing first week of March every four years. The 60th Oscar show was the last to date to take place in April (on the 11th) in 1988.
Business as usual. The NFL is expected to release the official schedule for its 2020 season imminently, with a plan for its grand finale at the Super Bowl on February 7, 2021 airing this cycle on CBS.
Last week, word that the NFL has a contingency "plan" based on several models, including one that has the actual season beginning October 15, six weeks later than normal, but still playing a full 16-game slate that would end not with a February 7 Super Bowl but rather one on Sunday, February 28. The possibility, dependent on numerous factors based on when the league is comfortable with games during the pandemic, has been reported by sports outlets from NBC to Sports Illustrated after Sports Business Journal leaked it at the end of April.
There is lots of precedence for this, and with all that is going on — even as we are talking about an event not even scheduled until 10 months from now — moving later could be an advantage since we don't know what this pandemic-affected season is going to realistically even look like. Of course, should COVID-19 send the Super Bowl to February 28 in this version of events, the Academy would have to know in a timely fashion as logistics involving the Dolby Theatre venue and many other things must be sorted out in doing the heavy lifting of moving the Oscars. Earlier would seem out of the question in this already threatened season where more time to see late-breaking fall movie releases will be needed more than ever. We don't even know what screening these contenders will look like in an environment where social distancing is the name of the game, and theater availability is an ongoing question mark. And to where? That means a move back to March, maybe even April?
To be continued.” />
You can bet it would be up to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to blink and find a new date for Oscar. Since I doubt the brawny NFL isn't really worried about taking a ratings hit for the Super Bowl — a happening so large some would like a national holiday declared for the day after just for the country to recover from the excitement — what fool would try to program against it? ABC, which spends heavily to broadcast the Oscars, would never allow it.
She might even add, who can predict what will happen on February 28 to that as well. As Hudson indicated, who can predict when will happen between now and February 28? Super Bowl or not, Oscar could — and I emphasize could — eventually be looking at a move regardless of any football concerns and depending on events that are largely out of its control.
Can the NFL actually do an end run around the Oscars and touch down on a date the Academy has already staked out? I will take a large bet and say, uh, no. Arrrrgh! In the weirdest of all circumstances, can the largely female appeal (according to advertisers) Oscar show go directly against the Holy Grail of television events, the largely male appeal (but really everyone in America if you look at ratings) Super Bowl?
"Additional adjustments to Academy rules, eligibility requirements and scheduling may be required. Any updated information about the show will be shared at a later time." "Due to the shifting landscape surrounding the global pandemic caused by COVID-19, all matters of rules and eligibility for the 93rd Academy Awards are subject to change based on national guidelines, state-mandated government orders and Academy-determined best practices," the said at the time. As previously announced, the 93rd Oscars telecast is scheduled to air Sunday, February 28, 2021, on ABC. An Academy spokesperson confirmed to Deadline today that the organization is aware of the February 28 Super Bowl date being floated but wouldn't comment officially, except to refer me back to the last lines of their April 28 press release announcing changes in eligibility and categories for the 93rd Oscars.
No one knows exactly how this is all going to unfold, even as many parts of the world and the U.S. take baby steps to re-open incrementally. Of course we know all about "plans" in the age of the coronavirus pandemic, and as one event after another has had to adjust, postpone or cancel — including nothing less than the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, now moved to summer, 2021 — "plans" are becoming like a house built on sand.
That also happened to be the first time the show was broadcast in color. The latest that the Oscars have ever taken place, at least in the televised era that began in 1953, was for the 38th awards, on April 18, 1966.
So why is the awards columnist for Deadline suddenly so concerned about football schedules? The 93rd annual Academy Awards is set to take place, you guessed it, on Sunday February 28, 2021.
Sources tell me the Academy is well aware of the entire calendar and will be assessing things as needed and making lots of decisions. We will obviously be ready to make alternatives." And also in other words, nothing is set in stone, and that means Oscars, Super Bowls, Olympics, Cannes Film Festivals, you name it. In other words, there are a lot of moving parts in play and the Academy, once one of the more rigid institutions, is learning to pivot, just as it did when it moved the once-planned February 23 date for this year's 92nd Oscars to February 9, partly in hopes of improving ratings (this year's show drew Oscar's smallest TV audience yet). That includes you, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who recently told Good Morning America, “One thing I’ve learned about what we are going through as a country is you can’t tell a week from now much less three months from now, so, our job is to be ready. Everyone has to be flexible and learn to play together in this ever-shifting sandbox.

Providing viral AR content and netting over a billion views, Sequin AR recently worked with Madonna for her Billboard Music Awards performance.” /> Jones and DeFranco previously worked at The Future Group where their projects included the flooding visualizations for The Weather Channel and an AR-enhanced performance by K/DA at last year's League of Legends World Championship Finals. They also worked with Epic Games Unreal Engine, the company behind the successful Fortnite video game. They also received an Emmy for the augmented reality work they did for this year's Super Bowl.
They have also signed on to enhance existing film and television properties. EXCLUSIVE: ICM Partners has signed Sequin AR and will represent the company in digital, as well as alternative television in new formats.

Sean Penn Says Bradley Cooper Has A Problem

A Star is Born is simply everything that movies should be. If we honor anything, this should be it.” />
In the end, the apples and oranges of film competition, and the inequity of advertising budgets has always left the Academy Awards with some inevitable aftertaste of the alcohol most of us have to drink to get through them. To spare myself potential disappointment, I’m raising a glass in advance to Bradley Cooper and A Star is Born. Surely a raised glass is as legitimate as a globe of gilded gold or a male statuette minus a penis (also gold gilded). God forbid it have balls this year!
There are also many perishable trend-pieces that, win or lose, will be lost to memory. In a fair world, A Star is Born sweeps the awards. It’s over and over again one of my favorite films of all time, harkening back to the essential filmmaking of Hal Ashby. Clear minds and hearts cannot possibly deny it its due. It’s just such a gift. There are many really good films and performances nominated this year.
And now, with A Star is Born’s eight nominations for Academy Awards, the problem is likely to be exposed. It has been so long since we have been able to equate a success or a love story with high art or artists that we may well have forgotten how. This isn’t Bradley Cooper’s opportunity, it's theirs to appreciate the depth and value of this film before its legacy outlasts their chance to participate in it. “Bradley is a star.” “He’s young… he’ll have plenty of opportunities.” If this, as I suspect, explains outcomes in other awards voting, voters will have certainly missed the point.
In these silly-ass soul damaging times, a film like A Star is Born brings people together without saccharine, sugar, or salesmanship. It is the achievement of one artist who had the courage to stand naked and jump from the edge of a vertical cliff, bringing his whole cast and crew with him, and simultaneously catch their fall. It’s the hard-messy stuff of love and life, of dreams and addictions, and yet we, its audience, walk away feeling less alone. It’s a triumph. Its art neither panders to the politics of the day, nor dazzles with the deceptions so many delight in. Cooper has made exceptions to the examples. He’s made a film about us as the flawed contemporary characters we are, and while his artfulness has brought it to moviedom’s Super Bowl, it has done so with none of the conceits voters are likely to lean on in the final tally.
Bradley Cooper has a problem. That’s exactly the problem Bradley Cooper has. Sure, it all looks good on the outside. Family, fame, fortune, and with his first film as director, he’s made the most successful contemporary love story of all time.
To deeply move an audience with a human experience, and all that while supporting excellence among an entire cast and crew. Cooper, Gaga and Elliott should own the acting category and the film would do the academy a service. This is what inspires and encourages actors to remember what it is to operate as a character in the real world. To characterize without smoke and mirrors.

The last time it was rock bottom was in 2000, when the Big Game frame totaled $66.3M per ComScore. You have to go back to Aug. Overall, this Super Bowl weekend's tickets sales are expected to be the lowest in 19 years.

Miss Bala
Tracking indicated that Miss Bala wasn't going to wow heading into the weekend. However, Sony, realizing that it was a niche play, vied to keep this action film at a responsible $15M cost before P&A. They speak for themselves. That said, the weekend ticket sales aren't anything to crow about.

BOX OFFICE FOR FEB. 1-3
Miss Bala played best in the west and southwest, but even there, we hear, it wasn’t great. Males over 25 were the pre-dominant crowd at 35%, followed by females over 25 at 30%. Miss Bala's fans were comprised of 42% Hispanic, 34% Caucasian, 12% African-American, with 10% Asian. Overall, a near split, 51% male. The 18-44 crowd repped 81% of the slim audience here.
Blame the bulk of the majors for not providing exhibitors with new titles. Don't necessarily blame the Super Bowl, even though it does suck 60%-70% out of Sunday's tills compared to Saturday. Super Bowl weekend has historically delivered good Friday and Saturday returns for a family title or male-targeted genre film.

Sony should have used all its powers to get this one right, and propel it to over-index. There was a lot of pride here for Sony and the filmmakers in making Miss Bala: 95% of the cast and crew were Latinx. Also, in an age where Narcos is ruling on Netflix, some criticize that Miss Bala didn't eventize itself enough in its marketing to persuade audiences to get off the coach and watch a female-crusading drug cartel action film. "The remake drains everything that was good about the original film, adds nothing, and is a mere shoot-'em-up, which we've seen before. What's the 'want-to-see' in this new version?" gripes one rival major studio marketing guru. Rival industry sources question why the Mexican Oscar entry was even remade. Even more good reason why the movie should be winning at the box office and not failing.
A 28% Rotten Tomatoes score doesn't help move traffic to Miss Bala either, nor do sour reviews like Chicago Sun Times' Richard Roeper's, who slams, "Run away from Gina Rodriguez's ludicrous drug running shoot-em-up…Miss Bala is an early contender for a spot on my list of the worst movies of 2019." Roeper also took umbrage with the fact that the MPAA rated the movie PG-13 instead of R, and that the movie had way too much violence, with the org being unnecessarily harder on Eighth Grade, which was saddled with an R rating.
Both respectively opened higher than Miss Bala here at $10.4M and $9.9M. TriStar's Colombiana with Zoe Saldana, and last year's Proud Mary (another unique genre revival which also tanked). A $10M-$12M start would have been decent start for Miss Bala, profit wise. We've seen these female-driven shoot-'em-ups before, i.e.

RelishMix says that social outreach and activity were moderate for Miss Bala, with a social media universe size of 66M. Viral video rate was a very low 6:1. And did they accept a new facet of the actress from what they've seen on TV? Aislinn Derbez (daughter of Mexican movie star Eugenio Derbez) has the biggest social media draw in the cast, with 11M across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, versus star Rodriguez, who counts 4M. Unfortunately, the same can't be said of Sony's remake of Mexico's 2011 Oscar entry Miss Bala, which is expected to fall with a $6.5M opening. STXfilms gets credit for getting this movie in shape, editing it from an R to a PG-13 and really keeping this remake alive more than year after it was sidelined by the Weinstein Co. We'll see if business builds for Miss Bala. Even though it has a 29% Rotten Tomatoes score, it could over-index with Latinx audiences thanks to Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez in the title role. It will be interesting to see whether the shoot 'em up is critic-proof. Either that, or everyone was really scared that Universal/BVI/Blumhouse's Glass would take all the air of the marketplace for three weekends in a row. Super Bowl weekend "is a gamble," said one distribution boss Friday morning. But there is money being left on the table, especially if you subscribe to the business principle that moviegoing is a 52-weekend-a-year-business. True, you wouldn't put a new four-quad release here.
And box office business logic dictates that if there's one movie that can over-index on Super Bowl weekend, it's an action movie. The one positive thing we can say here is that Sony did try to find a good place on the calendar for the title, a weekend without any fresh major studio competition. Those who did show up gave it three-and-a-half stars on PostTrak. Despite Sony planting a flag here, no one is coming to see Miss Bala.

But if there's nothing amazing on the marquee, then forget about it. While business will drop anywhere from 60%-75% from Saturday to Super Bowl Sunday for most non-family movies, the weekend has improved significantly for male-oriented pics like 2009's Taken ($24.7M) or American Sniper, which in 2015 made $30.6M over the Big Game weekend, the pic's sixth frame. People do go to the movies over Super Bowl weekend, and plan their moviegoing on Friday or Saturday.

Super Bowl LIII Halftime Controversy Continues, As Colin Kaepernick Attorney Attacks Adam Levine

The controversy surrounding Super Bowl LIII's halftime show continues, as Colin Kaepernick's attorney Mark Geragos called Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine's rationalization on his participation "a cop out."
Most importantly, though, I silenced all the noise and listened to myself, and made my decision about how I felt." Geragos was responding to comments Levine made on Thursday in an Entertainment Tonight interview, where he said, “No one put more thought and love into this than I did…I spoke to many people.
Levine added: “We’d like to move on from it and…speak through the music.”  He seemed to promise that his show would acknowledge the protests against the NFL, which include national anthem kneelers and Kaepernick's apparent ban from the league for being the initial leader of the kneeling movement.
“My husband (rapper Offset), he loves football," she said. I got to sacrifice a lot of money to perform. She is competing for both album and record of the year. "His kids play football. It’s really hard for him. You have to sacrifice that. But there’s a man who sacrificed his job for us, so we got to stand behind him.”” /> … He really wants to go to the Super Bowl, but he can’t go to the Super Bowl, because he’s got to stand for something.” said Cardi B, who is nominated for five Grammys.
The Grammy-nominated performer Cardi B told the Associated Press on Friday that she had "mixed feelings" about an offer to perform, eventually declining. She is appearing at a party in Atlanta in the pre-Super Bowl run-up.
Speaking on Good Morning America on Friday, Geragos called on Levine to admit what he's doing by appearing in the NFL Super Bowl halftime.
The halftime show will feature Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Outkast's Big Boi. Rihanna allegedly turned down a performance, while Jay-Z said in a song that he wouldn't participate. Other performers have either declined to participate in the halftime show because of concerns over the NFL's treatment of kneeling protesters and Kaepernick.
I do speak, but it's through the music. My life's work and what I put out into the universe has been positive and hopefully inspiring … "They will be [heard] — that's all I want to say because I don't want to spoil anything," Levine said. So, what I would say is, you know, we are going to do what we keep on doing, hopefully without becoming politicians and continuing to use the one voice we know how to use properly." "And once again, I like to think that people know where I stand as a human being after two decades doing this…I'm not a public speaker.
“If you’re going to cross this idealogical or intellectual picket line, then own it, and Adam Levine certainly isn’t owning it,” Geragos said. “It’s a cop-out when you start talking about, ‘I’m not a politician; I’m just doing the music.’ Most of the musicians who have any kind of consciousness whatsoever understand what’s going on here.”

Tom Hanks To Narrate Super Bowl Ad For The Washington Post And Journalism’s Importance

Tom Hanks is stepping up for the Washington Post during a Super Bowl commercial. The veteran actor will narrate a 60-second spot airing during the big game about the importance of journalists.
Hanks and Meryl Street starred in Steven Speilberg’s The Post, about the paper’s fight against the US government's efforts to hold publication of the Pentagon Papers, which revealed secrets of the US involvement in the Vietnam war and bombings in Laos and Cambodia.
“We decided to seize the opportunity to make this a milestone moment in our ongoing campaign.” “The Super Bowl is a remarkable moment to recognize the courage and commitment of journalists around the world that is so essential to our democracy,” said WaPo publisher and CEO Fred Ryan.
 ” />
Reports indicate the ad will have images of some of the biggest stories since World War II, with Hanks talking about journalists as the “gatherers of fact, as well as the profession’s larger importance to society,” the Post said in announcing the spot.
The Washington Post jumped into the Super Bowl fray late and will reportedly pay $5.25 million for the spot. “This was a chance for a broader message about the role journalists play in our everyday lives and the risks they take to bring us the facts,” Ryan said.
The spot will end with the paper’s recent slogan, “Democracy Dies in Darkness.”

Perky runnin’ out of time (runnin’ out of time)
That Perky fill it up one time
Surfing, wavin’ ’round the bags
Dirty cup romance
[Chorus: PARTYNEXTDOOR & Future]
There’s no shame in my game (ain’t no shame)
There’s no shame in my pain (in my pain)
I found new propane (I found)
I found new cocaine (I found it)

There’s no shame in my pain (ain’t no shame in my pain)
I found new propane (I found a new propane)

[Refrain: PARTYNEXTDOOR & Future]
Now it’s a new high, I found a new high
Now it’s a new high, I found a new high
Tomorrow’s a new life
Tomorrow’s a new life
[Verse 2: Future]
I had to switch through lanes (skrrt)
I had to switch through lanes
Smoking gas, propane (smoking gas, pro)
I should be ashamed (I should be ashamed)
Made love to her, didn’t know her name (make love)
Ain’t no shame in my game (ain’t no shame)
Twenty pink toes and they’re comin’ out of lovin’
Cock on your nose, girl, this must be heaven
Treat me like the king, give me head like Mustafa
Paris with the wind, don’t you worry, I got wifi
50 naked girls in the room doin’ salsa
Ice on your nipple ring shining, Lady Gaga (ice)
Super Bowl ring on my pinky, godfather
Superfly queen on my team, Wakanda

Cardi B Issues Warning To Offset Don’t Go Eric Benet “Take JAY-Z Advice”

Cardi B is threatening to make Offset go Eric Benet if he pulls another stunt again. They were first spotted out in public together at the Super Bowl and since then they have been inseparable. You do that sh*t again, you gon’ lose your wife,” Cardi B said in reminiscence of the famous lines on Beyonce’s single “Don’t Hurt Yourself” where she sings, “Uh, this is your final warning, You know I give you life, If you try this sh*t again, You gon lose your wife.”
Cardi B and Offset were recently embroiled in some cheating drama that aired out on social media after hackers leaked a video showing the Migos rapper allegedly cheating on his fiancee with another female inside a hotel room back in September of this year. He has since denied the allegations and seems she has forgiven him for any miss steps but not without a stern warning. “I let a ni**a know though. JAY-Z coined the phrase on his single “Kill JAY-Z” off his 4:44 album. “You almost went Eric Benét, Let the baddest girl in the world get away, I don’t even know what else to say, Ni**a, never go Eric Benét!” Hov raps. The pair started dating earlier this year while they were working together on a song. The hackers who somehow got into Offset’s iCloud account also leaked explicit videos of Cardi B online and says that they have a full sex tape of the two. During her performance at the Holiday Hip Hop Festival in Mississippi last night, Cardi B fired off a stern warning to her fiance Offset using some lines this time from Beyonce’s Lemonade. In October, they broke up for a few days after airing out each other on social media, but then got engaged a few days later when Offset proposed to her on stage at the Powerhouse concert in Philadelphia with a giant diamond ring cost north of $500,000. #cardib #offset #warning

NFL Tweets ‘Inside These Lines’ Unity Ad Set For Re-Airing Tonight

Trump has protested kneeling for the national anthem, but later endorsed the less-provocative standing with arms linked approach adopted by several teams. The ad, originally produced for this year's Super Bowl, is now a league response to the tumult caused by President Donald Trump's attacks on its players.
"We think this is the single-best response to demonstrate what we are about," said a league spokesman to CNN, which first reported the story.
In the ad, Whitaker narrates: "Inside these lines, we don't have to come from the same place to help each other reach the same destination. Inside these lines, we may have our differences, but recognize there's more that unites us."

Watch it below. The National Football League will re-air a one-minute ad showcasing "the power of football to bring people together" on its NBC-TV Sunday Night Football broadcast this evening. The ad was narrated by actor Forest Whitaker.

Rick Ross – Apple Of My Eye (feat. Raphael Saadiq) (Rather You Than Me Album)

[Intro: Rick Ross]
(Hahahah!)
Just being somebody that the neighborhood respected
And my mama could be proud of, was the apple of my eye
That’s all I ever wanted, just being something, man
So at that point what else can you ask for?
(Maybach Music)

[Verse 1: Rick Ross]
Tears runnin’ down a nigga face
In a room full of failures, I feel out of place
Still sleepin’ on the floor when you deserve better
Got you reekin’ through the cold even in warm weather
I told Meek, "I wouldn’t trust Nicki
Instead of beefin’ with your dog, you just give ’em some distance"
We all make mistakes, let’s not be too specific
We like, "I rather be a killer than be a statistic"
I never fold, no, I never ran
On my soul, I’ll roll like an avalanche
I thank the Lord I got some great friends
That’s why every bottle I open, I say, "Amen"
Just had seizure at the Super Bowl
Woke up in the third quarter lookin’ for the smoke
If it’s more than a quarter million, I’ll count it twice
Pucci broke my heart, shit, I call it life
And never will I call it right
Not perfect but I’m the one you would call at night
Travelin’ the world, I’m just reppin’ my city
But rarely do I hear that this nigga done did it
When niggas in fatigues will keep you intrigued
‘Cause the loss of life’s the only thing niggas believe
So I pray you listen carefully
Then I become another motherfuckin’ casualty

[Chorus: Raphael Saadiq]
Always speak and say hi
You just never ever walk on by (never ever walk on by)
You even stopped and put one in the sky (the sky)
You do it for the love of you and I (for the love of you and)

[Verse 2: Rick Ross]
Standin’ on your block but you so out of place
Uncle on the couch, momma runnin’ out of space
Lights off so you never tend to speak much
Go your separate ways every time the lease up
A fat ugly nigga, thought I’d never be nothin’
Another tree stump, happy with his free lunch
Duckin’ pigeons, I’m an eagle on a sunny day
Flap my wings once a week, pray I glide safe
I want fried chicken at my funeral
Rolls Royces, dope boys, Sway interviews
Everybody dyin’ for the same things
Cop kill a nigga, don’t nobody gangbang
I’m happy Donald Trump became the president
Because we gotta destroy, before we elevate
Real shit, look at me inside the white house
With a pocket full of weed inside the white house
Dead presidents tattooed on a nigga chest
U.S. treasury addressing me, mad at my address
Own the biggest residential pool in the U.S
Drake and Kanye can invite every bitch they ever met
Finger fuckin’ bitches in the holy water
Then I go an tell what happened to my only daughter
So her daddy told it to her firsthand
Never perfect but it’s not just ’bout them purses

[Chorus: Raphael Saadiq]
Always speak and say hi
I just never ever walk on by (never ever walk on by)
You even stopped and put one in the sky (the sky)
You do it for the love of you and I (yeah)

[Verse 3: Raphael Saadiq]
The streets could never teach me
All the things I got from you
I found myself in the wrong lane
And I ended up in pain (Pain)
I was strolling down a dark street
When this girl passed me by
She said you’ve always been a good friend (always been a good friend)
And you never never never let me down
I’ll just fall back, never turn back
Let it go, let it go
I’ll just fall back, never turn back
Let it go, let it go

[Chorus: Raphael Saadiq]
Always speak and say hi
I just never ever walk on by (never ever walk on by)
You even stopped and put one in the sky (the sky)
You do it for the love of you and I (for the love of you and I)

Hi-Rez – No Snakes (Missing Pieces Album)

[Verse 1]
Every day I ate the dollar menu, if it wasn’t on it, couldn’t order that
Fast forward couple years later, McDonald’s paid me like forty racks
Drugs, money, woman, closet, clothes, always knew that there was more than that
I was biking to the studio ’cause I ain’t have a car like the quarterback
They telling me I can’t rap homie ’cause I ain’t got no tats on me
Like the Seahawks in the Super Bowl, labels should’ve never passed on me
To all the girls who rejected me, know that they gonna regret today
Years ago when I was dropping music, all I saw was ‘LOL’ and ‘SMH’
Now they all up in my mentions bruh, asking me to come home now
Helped out way too many snakes so it’s everybody on their own now
Every year I cut my grass lower, no snakes, let me say it twice
Everybody that’s not in my shoes always tryna give me lame advice
Used to be up on the sidelines, now I went at three, I just lay it up
Remember Pops working overtime, coming back home when I was waking up
That’s the reason that I go hard, guess the apple don’t fall far
Had to cut a couple people off ’cause they crossed the line like a false start

[Hook]
I’ve been doing things that I shouldn’t be
Lot of snakes up in my grass, wish they wouldn’t be
I’ve been going hard, running up a cheque
Making people so upset
Guess that’s just the way it be
I’ve been putting on for the ones I love
Putting all my trust in the one above
You can’t tell me nothing that’ll kill my vibe
Right now I feel so alive
Got some liquor in my cup

[Verse 2]
I was on meth, staring at the ceiling
No emotions, I ain’t have no feelings
Stuck in this city all alone
Ain’t no friends who hittin’ my phone
Breaking off bread with the ones who loyal
My whole fam rules they go royal
Still the same kid who came out the mud
But I turned that shit into soil
I grew the vision, no pot to piss in
Remember back then when nobody listened
Never needed nobody else
Did this shit with no fucking help
I was stuck in some bad record deals
Felt like I was living in a cell
But to get to Heaven, gotta go through Hell
Wish I had that money for my brother’ bail
On the road, not picking up my phone, found out that my Grandpa passed
In a couple bad relationships, thank God I got out of that
For a little while, the dreams got blurry, felt like I had some cataracts
Coming up, kids would laugh at me, safe to say I got the last of laughs
Lot of friends turn to enemies, no snakes ’til I fucking die
Doctor had me on depression meds, I was losing my fucking mind
Got on my ass, finally grinding, now every day I wake up loving life
Guess that I just had to go through the dark if I wanted to end up being in the light

[Hook][x2]
I’ve been doing things that I shouldn’t be
Lot of snakes up in my grass, wish they wouldn’t be
I’ve been going hard, running up a cheque
Making people so upset
Guess that’s just the way it be
I’ve been putting on for the ones I love
Putting all my trust in the one above
You can’t tell me nothing that’ll kill my vibe
Right now I feel so alive
Got some liquor in my cup

People hatin’, say we changed and look, we made it
Yeah, we made it

[Verse 1: Post Malone]
They was never friendly, yeah
Now I’m jumping out the Bentley, yeah
And I know I sound dramatic, yeah

Coming with that bullshit, I just put it to the side
Balling since a baby, they could see it in my eyes

[Hook: Post Malone]
My momma called, seen you on TV, son
Said shit done changed ever since we was on
I dreamed it all ever since I was young
They said I wouldn’t be nothing

They ain’t never had the dedication
People hatin’, say we changed and look we made it

[Verse 2: Quavo]
I was patient, yeah, oh

Now I can scream that we made it
Now everyone, everywhere I go, they say ‘gratulations
Young nigga, young nigga, graduation
I pick up the rock and I ball, baby
I’m looking for someone to call, baby
But right now, I got a situation
Never old Ben-Ben Franklins
Big rings, champagne
My life is like a ball game
But instead, I’m in the trap though
Pot so big, call it Super Bowl

Top-floor lifestyle, Huncho and Post
Malone, I got a play on my phone, aye
You know what I’m on, aye
Huncho Houdini is gone, aye

Drake – Sacrifices (feat. 2 Chainz & Youn (More Life Album)

[Verse 1: Drake]
Wrote this shit, January 21
Baby girl, I had to run, I’ll be back a couple months
Kendall turned 21, was up the street with 21
They could see me online, but they won’t see me on the ones
I got Dubai plates in the California state
I got her waitin’ at my place, I got no baby on the way
I’m talkin’ Baby like Stunna, I’m talkin’ Baby like Face
Lost millions in the past, I’m talkin’ maybe like eight
Couple niggas from the city
Wishin’ on a star, could they be like Drake
Sorry, no, not today, you gotta find your own way
Big dog from the 6, I’m talkin’ Dogg like Nate
My shit be raw out the gate, I don’t need another take
40 got house on the lake, I ain’t know we had a lake
She complainin’ how I’m late, I ain’t know it was a date
Niggas see me in person, first thing they say is
"I know you need a break"
Hell naw, I feel great, ready now, why wait?
Like a kiss from a rose
I could be the one to seal your whole fate
So be careful what you think, think about what you gon’ say
Gotta deal with people straight, I got my 23’s laced
It’s a marathon, not a sprint, but I still gotta win the race, yeah

[Hook: Drake]
And I’m convinced
I made sacrifices, I been ballin’ ever since
We seein’ so many blessings, shit don’t make no sense
Someone watchin’ over us, so shout goes out to him
Yeah, I’m convinced
I made sacrifices, I been ballin’ ever since
Yeah, I did some wrong, I had no choice in my defense
Someone watchin’ over us, so shout goes out to—

[Verse 2: 2 Chainz]
2 Chainz, I’m a real one
Few shows, that’s a mil run
When she bust it down
I said, "Thanks for givin’ to me," like a pilgrim
Cold world’ll be chillin’
Earmuffs on the children
Used to trap out the Hilton
Got wood on the Cartiers; that’s a face full of splinters
Count a bankroll for dinner
This the wrong place to enter
Phone sex for breakfast, all kinda women text us
Met her at the Super Bowl
Told her I stayed down the street from Texas
A-Town, I stay down, yeah, it’s all in the wrist
This one here out the fence
Trap jumpin’ like the Carter, we into jumpin’ like Vince
Moved on from the election
Introduced her to the plug
Can’t believe they tried to take the connection
Ooh, girl, you a blessin’, fine ass, be finessin’
Yeah, I love my fans
But I don’t wanna take pictures in the restroom
Drench God with the 6 God, point guard and the two guard
"Pretty Girls Like Trap Music"
So I woke up with my wood hard

[Hook: Drake]
And I’m convinced
I made sacrifices, I been ballin’ ever since
We seein’ so many blessings, shit don’t make no sense
Someone watchin’ over us, so shout goes out to him
Yeah, I’m convinced
I made sacrifices, I been ballin’ ever since
Yeah, I did some wrong, I had no choice in my defense
Someone watchin’ over us, so shout goes out to—

[Verse 3: Young Thug]
I was stealin’ from a bitch, back when I was 21
My favorite gun was a SIG, 20 in the clip, head one
Growin’ up, I was a runnin’ back
You never made me ran once
I got shot, sweat started runnin’
That shit was red like Hunt (ketchup)
I’m kickin’ pimpin’ like I punt
But don’t you think shit’s sweet?
I’m talkin’ sweet, thin meat
I’m talkin’ suite like he sleep
We ain’t doin’ too much talkin’
I’m talmbout talkin’ like a speech
Like the President, I kill and meet
I’m talkin’ neat like freak
I’m talkin’ neat like fleek
I’m talkin’ neat like a geek (yeah)
You come with beef, I eat the beat
I’m talkin’ B’s, spellin’ B
Double R, that’s a Rolls, paint it yellow like it’s dairy
I’m talkin’ Rose like Derrick
I’m talkin’ Rolls like a Bentley
Like a new car, I got two keys
Tryna score the bucket like a Chevy seat
Then I heard they been pullin’ all week
I’ma use her name, like, "Who is he?"
You get it? I said I’ma use her name, like, "Who is he?"
Got some gold on, leprechaun sheets
Deep sleep short for deceased
Big bezel on the Patty
I’m talkin’ PADI—I meant Patek
Don’t try to take it, I got guns
I’m talkin’ guns, not pellets
I watch the game from the floor (floor seats)
I’m talkin’ wood, first mattress
I’m talkin’ wood, pants down
I’m talkin’ woods like them clowns (you get it?)
I got my mink off a monkey
I’m talkin’ monkey like Jumanji
All your diamonds partly sunny

I’m talkin’ wet like Katrina (New Orleans)
I’m talkin’ wet like Dasani, huh

[Hook: Drake]
And I’m convinced
I made sacrifices, I been ballin’ ever since
We seein’ so many blessings, shit don’t make no sense
Someone watchin’ over us, so shout goes out to him
Yeah, I’m convinced
I made sacrifices, I been ballin’ ever since

I’m talkin’ wood, pants down
I’m talkin’ woods like them clowns
I got my mean off a monkey
I’m talkin’ monkey like jumanji
All your diamonds partly sunny
I’m talkin’ sunny like the sunny
My diamonds wet, it cost me money
I’m talkin’ wet like it’s runnin’
I’m talkin’ wet like Katrina (New Orleans)
I’m talkin’ wet like the Sunday, huh

And I’m convinced
I made sacrifices, I been ballin’ ever since
We seein’ so many blessin’s, this shit don’t make no sense
Someone watchin’ over us, so shot goes out to him
Yeah, I’m convinced
I made sacrifices, I been ballin’ ever since
Yeah, I did some wrong, I had no choice in my defense
Someone watchin’ over us, so shot goes out to

RICK ROSS – Apple Of My Eye lyrics

Just being somebody that the neighborhood respected
And my mama could be proud of, was the apple of my eye
That’s all I ever wanted, just to being something man
At that point what else can you ask for?

Tears running out of a nigga face
In a room full of failures I feel out of place
Still sleeping on the floor when you deserve better
Got you reeking through the cold even in warm weather
I told Meek I wouldn’t trust Nicki, instead of beefing with your dog you just give him some distance
We all make mistakes, lets not be to specific
You rather be a killer than be statistic
An never fold no I never ran
On my soul I’ll roll like an avalanche
I thank the lord I got some great friends
That’s why every bottle I open I say amen
Just had seizure at the Super Bowl
Woke up in the third quarter looking for the smoke
If its more then a quarter million, Ill count it twice
Poochie broke my heart shit I call it life
An never will I call it rite
Not perfect but I’m the one you would call at night
Traveling the world, I’m just reppin’ my city
But rarely do I hear that this nigga done did it
When niggas in fatigues will keep you intrigued
Cause the loss of lifes the only thing that niggas believe
So I pray you listen carefully
Then I become another muthafuckin’ casualty

Always speak and say right
I just never ever walk on by
(never ever walk on by)
You even stop and put one in the sky
(the sky)
You do it for the love of you and I
(for the love of you and..)

Standin’ on your block but you so out of place
Uncle on the couch, momma running out of space
Lights off so you never tend to speak much
Go your separate ways every time the lease up
A fat ugly nigga thought I’d never be nothing
Another tree stump, happy with his free lunch
Duckin’ pigeons, I’m an eagle on a sunny day
Flap my wings once a week, pray I glide safe
I want fried chicken at my funeral
Rolls Royces, dope boys, Sway interviews
Everybody dying for the same things
Cop kill a nigga don’t nobody gangbang
I’m happy Donald Trump became the president
Because we gotta destroy, before we elevate
Real shit, look at me inside the white house
With a pocket full of weed inside the white house
Dead presidents tattooed on a nigga chest
U.S. treasury addressing me, mad at my address
Own the biggest residential pool is the US
Drake and Kanye can invite every bitch they ever met
Finger fuckin’ bitches in the holy water
Then I go an tell what happened to my only daughter
So her daddy told it to her firsthand
Never perfect but its not just bout them purses

Always speak and say right
I just never ever walk on by
(never ever walk on by)
You even stop and put one in the sky
(the sky)
You do it for the love of you and I
(yeah)

The streets could never teach me
All the things I got from you
I found myself in the wrong lane
And I ended up in pain (Pain)
I was strolling down a dark street
When this girl passed me by
She said you’ve always been a good friend
(Always been a good friend)
And you never never never let me down
I’ll just fall back never turn back
Let it go let it go
I’ll just fall back never turn back
Let it go let it go

Always speak and say right
I just never ever walk on by
(never ever walk on by)
You even stop and put one in the sky
(the sky)
You do it for the love of you and I
(for the love of you and I)

Post Malone – Congratulations (feat. Quavo)

[Intro]
Mm-mmm
Yeah, yeah
Mm-mmm
Yeah

[Hook: Post Malone]
My momma called, seen you on TV, son
Said shit done changed ever since we was on
I dreamed it all ever since I was young
They said I wouldn’t be nothing
Now they always say congratulations
Worked so hard, forgot how to vacation
They ain’t never had the dedication
People hatin’, say we changed and look, we made it
Yeah, we made it

[Verse 1: Post Malone]
They was never friendly, yeah
Now I’m jumping out the Bentley, yeah
And I know I sound dramatic, yeah
But I know I had to have it, yeah
For the money, I’m a savage, yeah
I be itching like a addict, yeah
I’m surrounded, twenty bad bitches, yeah
But they didn’t know me last year, yeah
Everyone wanna act like they important
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
But all that mean nothing when I swang my door, yeah
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Everyone countin’ on me, drop the ball, yeah
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Everything custom like I’m at the boarder, yeah, yeah
If you fuck with winning, put your lighters to the sky
How could I make sense when I got millions on my mind?
Coming with that bullshit, I just put it to the side
Balling since a baby, they could see it in my eyes

[Hook: Post Malone]
My momma called, seen you on TV, son
Said shit done changed ever since we was on
I dreamed it all ever since I was young
They said I wouldn’t be nothing
Now they always say congratulations
Worked so hard, forgot how to vacation
They ain’t never had the dedication
People hatin’, say we changed and look we made it
Yeah, we made it

[Verse 2: Quavo]
I was patient, yeah, oh
I was patient, aye, oh
Now I can scream that we made it
Now everyone, everywhere I go, they say ‘gratulations
Young nigga, young nigga, graduation
I pick up the rock and I ball, baby
I’m looking for someone to call, baby
But right now, I got a situation
Never old Ben-Ben Franklins
Big rings, champagne
My life is like a ball game
But instead, I’m in the trap though
Pot so big, call it Super Bowl
Super Bowl, call the hoes, get in the Rolls
Top-floor lifestyle, Huncho and Post
Malone, I got a play on my phone, aye
You know what I’m on, aye
Huncho Houdini is gone, aye

[Hook: Post Malone]

[Intro: Young Thug & Starrah]
Yaaah, oh yaaah
Ooooh, Thugger
Yeah, Travis Scott
Thugger, Thugger baby

[Verse 1: Travis Scott]

Then I go and pour four up
Then I roll up that roll up
Then I’m callin’ your hoe up…

[Hook: Travis Scott]

Like, I’m in the zone, baby (Straight up!)
I just poured up a four baby (Yeah, yeah)

[Bridge: Travis Scott & Young Thug]
Never will I cheat on you
Never will I commit treason
Blowin’ a bag on you
Do all of that for no reason
I’ma pull up and murk too
Hittin’ the block and I’m bleedin’
Throwing that Rollie on you
I like the way it be freezin’

[Hook: Travis Scott]
Like, Pick up the phone, baby (brrrrr)
Like, I know you’re home, baby (brrrrr)
Like, I’m in the zone, baby (Straight up!)
I just poured up a four baby (Yeah, yeah)

[Verse 2: Young Thug]
Pour up a four of that Actavis
Lean like my mothafuckin’ granny did
Super Bowl ring with big body Benz
I stack it up now I’m just better livin’
Got screws in my mouth, I’m just preppin’ it
I’m fucking this cash up, I’m not celibate
I’m packin’ it up like a reverend
I need all this cash, I got hella kids
I’ma play dumb and get left in the middle
Back the fuck up, you too little
Hit ’em with three like I’m Miller
I don’t talk to no man in the middle
I don’t talk to no man, I’m just kiddin’
But I did pay my sister’s tuition
I feel lucky, I should play the lottery
Walkin’ off with it, like sonny listen
Mama told me I’m her brightest star
Mama told me don’t hate on the law
Because everybody got a job
Because everybody wan’ be a star
Please believe every motherfucker around here wanna be a part (real shit, real shit)
She gon’ do anything in her power to be with ya’ boy

[Hook: Travis Scott]
Like, Pick up the phone, baby (brrrrr)
Like, I know you’re home, baby (brrrrr, it’s lit!)
Like, I’m in the zone, baby (Straight up!)

[Verse 3: Quavo]
Pick up the phone
Macaulay Culkin’ baby, Home Alone
I thought I was right
Then I had to man up, I was wrong
I hate when we fight
She in love with the pipe
I draped her up in ice, I pour my four on ice
Birds in the trap sing Brian McKnight
Percocet and Codeine please don’t take my life
She had a dream with Celine
So I bought it twice
Young nigga make it right back tonight
Girl you’re so cute and your ass is nice
Drinkin’ on 4 and I’m shootin’ dice
Wrist polar bear, Klondike
And I’m loving all races, hell nah don’t discriminize
Drinkin’ on clean, sanitize
Ostritch seats with the frog eyes
If i ever call your phone baby
Best believe its only one time

Childish Gambino – Higher Love

[Hook: Childish Gambino]
Baby girl, you know what I want
Let me do it to ya, do it to ya
Let me do ya like uh, uh, uh..

[Verse 1: Childish Gambino]
Hovy with glasses, Weezy but geeky
Girls in the lobby tryin’ to meet me
I ain’t afraid to say it, yeah I love these hoes
And their glasses, and their jacket, and their hipster clothes
Yes, I’m always on tour, what you mad at that for?
Slamming that thing like a Cadillac door
I love fast women, Jackie Joyner-Kersee
Have your cake and eat it, baby it’s your birthday
Tell me what you wanna do, I will make it happen
I just wanna get you home and uh, uh, uh, uh, oh
Yes, I’m drinking whiskey, baby I am gone tonight
NBC is not the only thing I’m coming on tonight
Gross, why the fuck I say these things?
It isn’t over, haven’t heard the chubby lady sing
Everybody love me, call a nigga Raymond
These weak niggas always in your face like Raybans
Yes, I bring the heat, girl, fire, fireman
Baby, I’m your hero, Donald for Spiderman
I’m in love with you, but this is not tennis
And baby stay stacked like she bad at Tetris
Rude boy, I Rihanna that vagina
Tell your boy, good luck tryin’ to find ya
[Hook: Childish Gambino]
Baby girl, you know what I want
Let me do it to ya, do it to ya
Let me do ya like uh, uh, uh..

[Verse 2: Joey Bada$$]
It all started with this special herb
Then after that it came to sexual words
I’m meeting shorty up to patch her a verse
She played Bonnie and I collide with a vibe when I’m inside the walls
I cut my shorties on the side cause I decide that she all
Mine’s, I keep her in my eyes at all times
Not because I don’t trust her I just, can’t get enough of her
On the phone late until her mom dukes be cussing her
She played the hustler and I’m like mad customers
Man swear I’m in love and ain’t afraid to admit it
Be blowing up her line, man I swear I’m addicted, but
It’s all cool cause when in love we all fools
They say men lie and women lay naked that’s all foolin’
Numbers don’t matter after the first night
Right, so what the fuck is love at the first sight
If you ask me, another stupid analogy
Made to cover flaws in the female anatomy
But I’m a keep gradually telling these bitches
Don’t front, (don’t front)

[Hook: Childish Gambino]
Baby girl, you know what I want
Let me do it to ya, do it to ya
Let me do ya like uh, uh, uh..

[Verse 3: Kanye West]
You the number one trophy wife
So it’s only right to live the trophy life
You grew up on J. Lo, Timberlands by Manolo now
Till one day I put an angel in your ultra sound
I wanna dip that ass in gold, I wanna dip that ass in gold
I made it over NBA, NFL players
So every time I score it’s like the Super Bowl
Baby, we should hit the south of France
So you could run around without them pants
I put that glacier on your little hand
Now that’s the only thing without a tan
My trophy on that Bound bike, I gave you only pipe
If people don’t hate then it won’t be right
You could look at Kylie, Kendall, Kourtney and Khloe
All your Mama ever made was trophies, right?

[Hook: Childish Gambino]
Baby girl, you know what I want
Let me do it to ya, do it to ya
Let me do ya like uh, uh, uh..
