‘Batwoman’: Elizabeth Anweis Cast In the CW’s DC Pilot

Written by Caroline Dries and directed by Marcos Siega, Batwoman marks the first gay lead character of a live-action superhero series. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope. Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman (Rose), an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.
Elizabeth Anweis (9-1-1) has been cast opposite Ruby Rose in Batwoman, the CW’s groundbreaking drama pilot from Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros Television.
Catherine made her fortune as a savvy, bullheaded defense contractor, and all those billions position her as one of Gotham's most powerful residents. Anweis will play Catherine Hamilton-Kane, Kate Kane's (Rose) step-mother. For Catherine, it's a matter of the bottom line: Batwoman is bad for business.
She began her career as a runway model for Cartier and Gucci, and has appeared in campaigns for Jeremy Scott and Diesel. Anweis' TV credits include Fox's 9-1-1, Twin Peaks: The Return, The Affair and NCIS: Los Angeles. Anweis is repped by JLA Talent, Authentic Talent and Literary Management, and Morris Yorn.” />

‘What/If’: Samantha Ware, Juan Castano, Keith Powers & Saamer Usmani Join Netflix Social Thriller Series

What/If explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things. Each season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source material, and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life.
Glee alum Samantha Ware, Juan Castano, Keith Powers (The New Edition Story) and Saamer Usmani have joined the cast of What/If, Netflix's social thriller anthology drama series What/If starring Renée Zellweger, Jane Levy and Blake Jenner, from Revenge and Swingtown creator Mike Kelley. The series is written by Kelley, directed by Phillip Noyce and produced by Page Fright, Atlas Entertainment and Compari Entertainment in association with Warner Bros Television.
In the past year she has guest starred on Bull, NCIS: New Orleans, Chicago Med and Barry. She's repped by Vanguard Management Group. Ware is best known for her series regular role of Jane Hayward in the final season of Glee. Her theatre work includes Hamilton, Book of Mormon and Lion King.
Jackie Levine of Compari Entertainment serves as co-executive producer. Executive producing the series are Kelley and Melissa Loy via Page Fright, Alex Gartner and Charles Roven via Atlas Entertainment and Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke via Compari Entertainment.
Ware will play Angela, Castano will portray Marcos, Powers is Todd and Usmani will play Avery.
He is repped by Paradigm, Megan Silverman Management and HRi Talent. Powers recently starred on two seasons of Freeform's Famous in Love. His credits include BET's The New Edition Story and feature Straight Outta Compton.
Noyce is directing and executive producing the first two episodes.
